How do avalanche transceiver checkpoints work?
Switch your transceiver on and walk past the checkpoint at normal speed, keeping a distance of 1 to 2 metres. If you’re in a group, make sure to maintain a distance of ca. 5 metres from each other so that the beacon of each group member is checked.
- If the device flashes red, your transceiver is not switched on or is not sending its signal. In this case, be sure to do a function check and fix the problem before heading out into the open terrain.
- If the device flashes green, your beacon is OK and transmitting correctly.
