Hochiss - Issplatten
Description
The Issplatten offer some of the best slab climbing around, with the slabs clearly visible from the Erfurter Hütte. Although the route is bolted, the climbing is still quite challenging and has a distinctly alpine character. Please note: The access route described in older guidebooks passes through a nature reserve. To help protect the area, we ask all climbers to follow the updated route to the Issplatten described below: Start by taking the normal route to the Hochiss via the Gamshals, stopping at a signpost just below the summit ridge. From here, head south-west and descend a few metres down a steep grassy slope to a wide grassy ridge. Follow the climbing tracks along this ridge, staying below the ridge tower, until you reach the Issplatten on your right.
