What's on at Lake Achensee?
Are you planning a short trip to Achensee, or perhaps you’re already here and looking for things to do? From spontaneous mountain adventures to local events, use this overview to see at a glance what’s happening between the mountains and the lake.

Spring hiking
Spring in the Achensee region offers ideal conditions for long hikes, especially at lower altitudes. While early summer warmth beckons in the valleys, the snow is still retreating above 2,000 metres. In these higher elevations – particularly on north-facing slopes – you should still expect occasional patches of snow. Come witness the landscape around Tirol’s largest lake as it transforms. Plus, the Achensee hiking programme kicks off in May, running every Monday to Friday.

Wellness at Lake Achensee
Start with a hearty breakfast, enjoy an active spring day at Lake Achensee, and then unwind in the spa with a range of wellness treatments. Discover the local secret to relaxation: Tiroler Steinöl® (shale oil), a traditional natural remedy extracted right here in the region.

Via ferratas at Lake Achensee
Maintenance work is currently underway to ensure our routes are safe for the new season. We have already completed maintenance on all accessible climbing crags. Please remain patient regarding the via ferratas; in higher areas, steel cables may still be covered in snow, and snow patches are likely to persist on approach and descent routes. Because most Rofan via ferratas are located at approx. 2,000 metres above sea level, it takes longer for these routes to become completely snow-free and safe. We will complete maintenance on the remaining via ferratas as soon as conditions allow.

Water sports
Grab your own kayak and explore the lake – or hire one from a local provider during the summer months. The water sports season is now underway at Lake Achensee, with plenty of exciting activities on offer, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, foiling and diving. Check which zones are currently open, see what sports are available, and dive into the ultimate water sports adventure.

Fancy a walk or a run?
As you take a leisurely walk or run around Lake Achensee, you can sense summer settling into the valley. While it is already pleasantly warm in the valleys, the snow is still retreating at altitudes above 2,000 metres. At these heights, and particularly in north-facing areas, you should still expect to find occasional patches of snow.

Paragliding at Lake Achensee
The flying sites around Lake Achensee are very thermally active, making them ideal for paragliding. Whether you’re looking to start with paragliding training or experience the thrill of a tandem flight, the region offers something for everyone. Follow the link for information about flying sites, take-off and landing sites, protected areas, and current wind and weather conditions.

Roller skiing
Experience cross-country skiing year-round on the region’s official roller ski trails! Beginners will enjoy the wide, flat paths along the lake, while more advanced skiers can test their skills on the varied, gently undulating routes that wind through the breathtaking Karwendel valleys.
