Model of the Wiesinger Buchberg

In the late 15th century, a watchtower was built on the Buchberg, which was later converted into a powder tower. In the 16th century, Archduke Ferdinand II had Thurnegg Castle built, complete with a game enclosure and its surrounding wall. Today, history comes alive thanks to Otto Dornauer from Wiesing, who has created a detailed, true-to-scale model of the Buchberg. Based on old maps, the model shows what the area looked like around 1750 and is displayed alongside an information board in the entrance of Wiesing’s municipal building.

For an even more immersive experience, explore the interactive audio tour narrated by Emperor Maximilian I. The tour takes you on a journey through the Achensee region, telling fascinating stories about Wiesing and its historic game enclosure. See the “Station Wiesing Dorfplatz” icon below.
