Achenseebahn – from Jenbach to the Tirolean Sea
For over 130 years, it has puffed its way up the mountain from Jenbach in the Inntal valley to Lake Achensee, covering almost seven kilometres and 440 metres of elevation: The Achensee steam cog railway, which is the oldest of its kind in Europe.
Enjoy a ride on the steam cog railway, which dates back to 1889. See romantic landscapes and woodland as the train puffs its way from the Inntal valley to Lake Achensee, Tirol’s largest lake. The terminal station is Seespitz in Maurach, where your next excursion awaits: a leisurely panoramic boat cruise on Lake Achensee. The Achenseeschifffahrt boat tours run in conjunction with the railway with minimal transfer times, making it easy to combine train and boat rides.
