Enjoy a ride on Europe’s oldest steam cog railway!

Achenseebahn – from Jenbach to the Tirolean Sea

Since 1889, the Achensee steam cog railway has been puffing its way up the mountain from Jenbach in the Inntal Valley to Lake Achensee, covering nearly seven kilometres and climbing 440 metres in altitude. This historic railway is the oldest of its kind in Europe.

Hop aboard this vintage train and travel back in time as you enjoy the breathtaking scenery and woodlands on the way from the Inntal Valley to Lake Achensee, Tirol’s largest lake. The journey ends at Seespitz in Maurach, where a new adventure awaits: a relaxing panoramic boat cruise on Lake Achensee. The Achenseeschifffahrt runs cruises in conjunction with train timetables, making it easy to combine the two experiences for an unforgettable day out.
