Museum Christmas
Alongside the traditional Christmas markets, the Museum Christmas at the Achensee Museum World is one of the region’s most atmospheric Advent events. Held annually on 8 December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, it invites visitors to embrace the festive spirit while discovering authentic Tyrolean customs and cultural heritage.
A cosy Advent programme awaits, featuring mulled wine, regional delicacies, and musical performances. Set amid historical exhibits and lovingly presented museum rooms, you can enjoy the run-up to Christmas at Lake Achensee in a particularly authentic way - a must for anyone wishing to experience Advent away from typical Christmas market stalls.
Nostalgic trip to the Museum Christmas
On the day of the event, the Achenseebahn Christmas train runs from Jenbach to Maurach. One of Europe’s oldest steam cog railways takes you on a leisurely ride up to Lake Achensee, perfectly matching the festive spirit of the Museum Christmas. Timetables and fares are available directly from the Achenseebahn.
