Ranger-guided winter hikes
Are you a nature loving explorer looking forward to roam through the forest? Lake Achensee is the perfect destination for people looking to connect with nature.
In winter, the region offers ranger-guided tours into the Nature Park Karwendel under the motto “exploring wildlife”.
Our ranger-guided activities let visitors learn about the diverse flora and fauna of the Karwendel from local experts. Both in summer and in winter, rangers conduct a series of walks to give visitors a deeper insight into the unique wildlife of the Nature Park Karwendel. Winter tours will be on foot or on snowshoes (depending on the snow conditions), centering around the park’s residents and their habitats.
Already at the beginning of the tour, the guides give tips on wildlife viewing. “Take your time and stay in one place for a while, then the animals will also calm down and show up, giving visitors the chance to observe them up close,” explains nature park ranger Sebastian Pilloni and discovers the first animal tracks.
With the help of a handout, visitors can identify the animal tracks right away. The varied educational tour also includes interesting facts about snow and botany, how to identify flower and leaf buds etc. And if there is no animal in the immediate vicinity, the nature park guides have brought a spotting scope for viewing the animals in the distance.
