Running at Lake Achensee

The Achensee region is a true runner’s paradise, with a varied topography that features the lakeshore, the Karwendel valleys, and the surrounding mountains. This diverse landscape provides ideal conditions for runners and trail runners of all abilities. Thanks to its outstanding natural beauty, excellent infrastructure, and top international running events, the region is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in the Alps.

With 183 kilometres of designated running routes, the Achensee region has something for everyone. Beginners can enjoy varied, mostly flat paths, while experienced runners and trail runners will find plenty of challenge on demanding, sometimes steep and technical trails. One of the highlights is the scenic circuit around the entire lake, which offers an exciting mix of asphalt, gravel, and natural trails.
