Achensee Ski Touring Fun in the Rofan
The "Achensee Ski Touring Fun" embraces the true Olympic ideal: "it’s the taking part that counts." On 7 March 2026, teams of three will set out to conquer 490 metres of elevation together, celebrating team spirit and the pure joy of ski touring. Unforgettable moments and fantastic prizes await - and best of all, it’s not your time that counts, but the fun and camaraderie shared along the way.

Programme & route details
- Race number collection from 07:30 to 09:30 (confirmation of registration required). Each participant will receive two start numbers: one for the thigh and one for the rucksack.
- Gondola ascent from 08:30
- Start time & route: The race begins on Saturday, 07 March 2026 at 10:30. The starting point is located on the plateau below the former Buchauer Alm (1.340m). From there, participants will ascend 490 metres of elevation on a groomed slope to the top station of the Rofan cable car. You can find the detailed route information at maps.achensee.com.
- Competition details:
- Participants compete in teams of three in an exciting ski touring challenge.
- The team that comes closest to the (secret) target time will take home amazing prizes.
- Two refreshment stations along the way will keep you energized with snacks and drinks.
- Award ceremony: The award ceremony will take place approx. 30 minutes after the end of the race.
- Raffle with great prizes
- Entry fee: EUR 120 per team, which includes attractive goodie bags, refreshments at the stations, pasta dishes at the after race party, and an ascent and descent with the Rofan cable car for each participant incl. one accompanying person. Parking at the cable car is also included for all participants.
- Equipment: While SKIMO-compliant equipment is recommended, it is not mandatory for participation.
- Costumes: Costumes are highly encouraged to add to the fun and festive atmosphere of the event, but dressing up is entirely optional.
Route changes: The Rofan ski touring area can be explored using the winter/ski resort map available at www.rofanseilbahn.at. Please note that the organizer reserves the right to make last-minute route changes due to adverse weather conditions, such as avalanche risks.
Liability and insurance: Each participant is expected to have competition insurance that includes rescue coverage. The organizer assumes no liability for injuries, deviations from the designated route, or other risks - participation is entirely at your own risk. Basic alpine knowledge is required for all participants. Participants under the age of 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian.
Regulations: The event follows the guidelines and standards of Skimo Austria.
From 08:30, spectators can take the gondola up to the event area. The entire race can be viewed perfectly from the top station. Live music will provide entertainment throughout the day, and refreshments will also be available. The event ends at 16:30, after which the Rofan cable car will take you back down to the valley.
