Take the motorway A12 (toll sticker required), exit at Wiesing/Achensee and follow the Achensee federal road B181 until you reach Maurach after 7 kilometres. Toll-free journey is possible via Achenpass or Bad Tölz. From Munich, follow the motorway and exit at Holzkirchen, then continue via Tegernsee and Achenpass or via Bad Tölz to the national border. Follow the road to Achenkirch and drive to Maurach.

Getting here by public transport: Take the train to the train station Jenbach. From here, Lake Achensee is just a short bus ride away, see bus timetables at www.vvt.at. Your reservation confirmation is your free bus ticket to Maurach.

The nearest airports are Innsbruck (50km), Munich (ca. 140km), and Salzburg (ca. 150km). Fantastic stay at Lake Achensee with top-notch service! ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ We had a truly wonderful and relaxing stay at Hotel Garni Das SONNALP. Perfect pre-check-in & arrival A few hours before our arrival, we received a very clear email with the pre-check-in link. After entering our details online, we immediately received all the information about the key safe in the self-service lounge. A huge plus: We were able to check into our room around 12:40 pm – more than two hours before the regular check-in time of 3:00 pm! The integrated elevator is absolutely invaluable, especially if you have a lot of luggage or heavy hiking backpacks. The hotel also provides its own free parking lot directly in front of the building, which makes arrival incredibly easy. Hotel & amenities The hotel has a surprisingly large number of great amenities to offer. In addition to the spa area with sauna, there is a well-maintained outdoor pool with a magnificent view of the mountains. The cozy lounge also features a small children's corner with some coloring supplies and a shelf with a few books and games – a nice way to keep them occupied for a while. Breakfast & Excellent Service Every morning we received an extremely warm welcome from the staff. The team is incredibly attentive and efficient, clearing away used dishes in the breakfast room in a flash. The dining room itself is modern and comfortably furnished – the fun pictures of trendy deer on the walls instantly lift your spirits! Since there were very few children around during our stay, the atmosphere at breakfast was pleasantly quiet. We simply cannot understand some of the negative reviews about breakfast: Nothing was "carelessly thrown together" for us; everything was beautifully and neatly arranged. All the hot dishes were consistently piping hot. The fact that you can cook your own eggs at the station is intentional and a great service – this way everyone can prepare their eggs exactly to their liking (e.g., 8 minutes for soft-boiled or 10 minutes for a bit harder). The buffet offered a solid and perfectly adequate selection: fresh rolls, muesli, yogurt, various toppings, as well as boiled and scrambled eggs. The coffee wasn't quite to our liking, but that's really nitpicking. Checkout was also a breeze: If you've done everything online beforehand, you simply hand in your cards at reception in under two minutes and can leave immediately. Room, Bathroom & Location Our room was clean, well-designed, and offered more than enough closet and storage space for all our belongings. The size was absolutely ideal for two people. The bed was comfortable, and the lovely balcony was perfect for relaxing. We can also put the water issue to rest: Everything worked perfectly in our shower. The water took maybe 10 seconds longer than usual at home to get properly warm – so absolutely no problem. Shampoo, hand soap, and plenty of towels were provided in the bathroom – unfortunately, the hairdryer didn't work (which hardly detracted from the otherwise excellent impression of the bathroom). The location in Maurach is ideal: the lake, hiking trails, and shops are all within easy reach. Overall, a truly excellent hotel – we'd love to come back!

Highly recommended. Breakfast could offer a bit more variety, but it's perfectly fine for the price. We had a few extra requests, and everything was promptly provided. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. It's just a few minutes' walk to Lake Achensee. We're already looking forward to coming back next year.

Nice hotel, close to many amenities and the lake. Cozy breakfast room with an excellent breakfast selection. Super friendly staff who helped us out nicely. Our two dogs were also welcome. Because our train departed late in the evening, a late check-out was possible for a fee, which we were very happy with! The room was neat and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the view of the mountains was beautiful.

We arrived soaked and chilled after our bike tour, but the sauna was a great way to warm up. The storage and charging facilities for our e-bikes were also perfect! The breakfast buffet was well-stocked, the room and beds were comfortable, and the staff were very friendly! Everything was excellent!

Room: A bit dated (carpeted, tiled, etc.), hairdryer not fully functional due to its age, BUT perfectly adequate! Consistently clean, tidy, and spotless. Sauna area (steam room, Finnish, infrared, and bio saunas) cozy. Location: A charming spot in the heart of Maurach. Everything within easy walking distance (thermal baths, lake, gondola, supermarket, boat trips). Service: Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Requests were handled promptly and went above and beyond. Contactless check-in was seamless, and the reception hours (8:00-10:00 a.m.) weren't inconvenient. For this price, it's incomparable to other accommodations. Would gladly stay again!

I went to this hotel for a short break. There's plenty of parking right in front. The room I had wasn't the most modern, but the bed was absolutely fantastic, perfect for relaxing after hiking. The room was also quite spacious. The breakfast was adequate and offered everything you could need.

We stayed two nights over the weekend. It really does seem like there's only staff at breakfast time, but the lady was very nice and helpful! You have to get your room key cards yourself from key boxes. The room was relatively spacious, with standard amenities and a balcony. The bathroom didn't seem as outdated as some others have described. We didn't really have hot water, though, but it was okay in the shower. The wellness area is definitely worth mentioning. It's not large, but it's very comfortably furnished and quite well-equipped with two saunas, a steam room, an experience shower, a foot bath, a solarium, a relaxation room, and a massage room! Theoretically, there's also a swimming pool, but it wasn't open during our stay.
