Achensee steam cog railway station Eben

Achenseebahn steam cog railway station in Eben am Achensee at sunset.

Eben station is about 970 metres above sea level and is an important stop on the historic Achensee Steam Cog Railway. This is where the steep mountain section from Jenbach ends, with gradients of up to 16%. At the station, the steam locomotive is moved to the other end of the train before the journey continues to Maurach and Seespitz on the shores of Lake Achensee. Eben station is one of the key stops on Europe’s oldest steam-powered cog railway still in regular service.
