My wife and I first discovered beautiful Lake Achensee more than 25 years ago. At that time, we were looking for a place where we could spend our holidays with our children, and it was here that we found a Kinderhotel where we enjoyed many wonderful family moments together – both in summer and in winter. Achensee has therefore always been a place full of very special memories for us. Time passes, the children have grown up and now have lives of their own. And after all these years, my wife and I returned to Achensee – this time just the two of us. Without the children, we suddenly had the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful place in a slightly different way. We were no longer tied to half-board in a family hotel and could spend more time doing something we both really enjoy – discovering good food, wine and great restaurants. And that is how we discovered ESSBAR in Pertisau, the restaurant at Hotel Sonnenhof. At first, it was the food that brought us here. Excellent steaks, wonderful fish and the kind of cooking that makes you want to come back. But we soon discovered that there is something perhaps even more special about ESSBAR than the food – the incredibly warm, friendly and almost family-like atmosphere. There is nothing formal or impersonal about it. You never feel like you are simply another guest. From the very beginning, we felt genuinely welcome and comfortable here. So this time, we decided not only to return to ESSBAR for dinner, but also to stay at Hotel Sonnenhof itself. And we are very happy that we did. Sonnenhof is exactly the kind of hotel we love. It is not a large, anonymous hotel, but a place with its own character and, most importantly, wonderful people who create its special atmosphere. We felt relaxed, comfortable and truly welcome throughout our stay. And in the evening, we could look forward to another visit to ESSBAR, great food and the warm atmosphere that made us fall in love with this place in the first place. Perhaps the best review we can give Sonnenhof is what happened today. We arrived home only a few hours ago – our suitcases are not even properly unpacked yet – and I am already making a reservation for our next stay. I think that says it all. 😊 A big thank you to the entire Sonnenhof and ESSBAR team for the wonderful days, the excellent food and, above all, for your genuine warmth and hospitality. Das Hotel ist wunderschön gelegen und bietet eine angenehm ruhige Atmosphäre. Das gesamte Personal war durchweg ausgesprochen freundlich, sodass wir uns vom ersten Moment an herzlich willkommen gefühlt haben. Für uns war es der erste Aufenthalt und bereits beim Check-out haben wir direkt für das kommende Jahr wieder gebucht. Das spricht sicherlich für sich. Unser Zimmer war sehr sauber und verfügte sogar über zwei Balkone. Auch kulinarisch wurden wir rundum verwöhnt. Unser Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen. Besonders fanden wir die vielen liebevollen Details, wie etwa die Berkel-Aufschnittmaschine, an der man sich frischen Schinken oder Wurst schneiden lassen konnte, sowie den Entsafter für frisch zubereitete Säfte. Es gab eine große Auswahl an Brot, Brötchen, Kuchen und Croissants. Eierspeisen konnten jederzeit frisch bestellt werden. Insgesamt war das Angebot unglaublich umfangreich und bot für jeden Geschmack etwas. Beim Abendessen konnte man aus vier verschiedenen Gerichten wählen. Alternativ bestand die Möglichkeit, gegen einen Aufpreis etwas aus der Karte der „Essbar“ zu bestellen oder sich den entsprechenden Betrag gutschreiben zu lassen und vollständig à la carte zu essen. Zusätzlich gab es wechselnde warme Gerichte vom Buffet, die vor dem Hauptgang angeboten wurden. Alles war köstlich und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Die offenen Weine waren sehr gut ausgewählt. Auch hervorheben möchten wir den großzügigen Sauna- und Wellnessbereich. Dieser ist sehr einladend gestaltet und bietet kalte Getränke sowie eine große Auswahl an Tees, Nüssen und Datteln. Der Nachmittag ließ sich dort wunderbar in der finnischen Sauna, der Biosauna oder im Kneippbecken verbringen. Vielen Dank für den erholsamen Aufenthalt und die schöne Zeit. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und freuen uns bereits jetzt auf unseren Aufenthalt im kommenden Jahr!

This was our first time at the Sonnenhof. It has a very pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere. The rooms are very clean and beautifully furnished. We also really enjoyed the spa area. We highly recommend this hotel – even for those traveling with a dog! :-)

Wir waren letzte Woche spontan hier und auf der Suche nach einem anderen Hotel als gebucht – und können wirklich sagen: Der Sonnenhof war unsere Rettung und wir sind doch noch mit schönen Erinnerungen abgereist! 😊 Wir wurden trotz der Kurzfristigkeit super herzlich aufgenommen und haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Alles war sehr familiär und das gesamte Personal unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Besonders schön fanden wir, dass auf unsere Wünsche so individuell eingegangen wurde und man sich auch ganz lieb um unsere Kleine und ein passendes Abendessen für sie gekümmert hat (sofern bei dem angebotenen Menü nichts passendes für sie dabei war). Vielen Dank für die tolle Gastfreundschaft! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können das Hotel von Herzen weiterempfehlen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was our first time at the Sonnenhof Genusshotel. The half-board option deserves special mention. The food is fantastic. We haven't experienced such culinary delights in a long time. The breakfast and dinner buffets are constantly replenished. We particularly enjoyed the three-course dinners served in the evenings. The hotel and spa area are spotless. The various saunas, relaxation areas, and healthy snacks and drinks are also excellent. We were able to truly relax and recharge during our week-long holiday.

My first time at the Sonnenhof, and I was absolutely delighted with this exceptionally well-maintained, modern, yet traditional hotel. I loved everything, from the room and the warm, family atmosphere to the fantastic, Michelin-star-worthy dinner menu and the overall ambiance. Every service was attentive and friendly. Waren in einer Ferienwohnung. Alles echt Top. Das Restaurant ist spitze. Der Service super. Es gibt auch einen Saunabereich im Hotel, den man Mitbenutzung kann, wenn man eine Ferienwohnung hat. Ein Brötchenservice ist auch vorhanden.

After my husband suffered a severe stroke in 2024, we spent our first holiday (5 nights) at the Sonnenhof Hotel. Since my husband has been wheelchair-bound ever since, we were looking for a hotel that was not only accessible but truly wheelchair-friendly. We received a very warm welcome and the owner provided us with a private parking space in the basement, under cover, with direct access to the elevator. The room was very comfortable and had a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. It was also very quiet. There was plenty of space to easily move around the room with a wheelchair. The balcony was easily accessible via a small ramp. The bathroom sink was wheelchair accessible, and the toilet had a raised seat if needed. Removable grab bars were provided for secure support in the shower and at the toilet, which could be individually positioned according to our needs. We felt very comfortable in this room (with a four-poster bed). The hotel is modern yet very traditional. Furthermore, it is fully accessible. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, and the dinner was phenomenal. You could feel the joy the team took in their work at this hotel. We were particularly impressed by the owner, who was incredibly friendly and empathetic, attending to all the guests' needs. Thank you to the helpful and very friendly staff throughout the entire hotel. Special thanks to Jitender in the service team, who has an incredible feel for the guests and is always in good spirits. In short, our first vacation after a very difficult time, and our stay at the Sonnenhof, was very relaxing and a positive experience for us. We'll be back. Best regards, the Priester family
