Alpenhotel Edelweiss

The Alpenhotel Edelweiss is one of the oldest hotels in Maurach am Achensee with a long tradition. The hotel was taken over in 2018 and has already been partially renovated and redesigned in a modern Tirolean style. The hotel is invitingly situated with a sunny view of the Rofan mountains and Lake Achensee, next to the Rofan cable car. With its 37 comfortable rooms with various accommodation options, the Alpenhotel Edelweiss offers its guests a foyer, a reception, a longe bar, a children's room, a games room with billiards, a ski room with boot dryer, and free WiFi both in summer and in winter. Various culinary delicacies, from the Tirolean and the international cuisine in the typical Tirolean hotel restaurant will bring our guests to indulgence. From early in the morning with the attractive breakfast buffet; until late in the evening with the seasonally arranged menu and wine list; we try to fulfill every culinary wish.

Take the motorway A12 (toll sticker required), exit at Wiesing/Achensee and follow the Achensee federal road B181 until you reach Maurach after 7 kilometres. Toll-free journey is possible via Achenpass or Bad Tölz. From Munich, follow the motorway and exit at Holzkirchen, then continue via Tegernsee and Achenpass or via Bad Tölz to the national border. Follow the road to Achenkirch and drive to Maurach.

Getting here by public transport: Take the traain to the train station Jenbach. From here, Lake Achensee is just a short bus ride away, see bus timetables at www.vvt.at. Your reservation confirmation is your free bus ticket to Maurach.

The nearest airports are Innsbruck (50km), Munich (ca. 140km), and Salzburg (ca. 150km). We are extremely satisfied. The first night, the street noise bothered us a little, as we live in a very rural area and can sleep with the windows open. However, you can see on Google Maps that the hotel is right next to the road. Therefore, I don't understand some of the reviews that complain about this. I wouldn't choose a hotel next to a zoo and then complain about being woken up by elephants every morning. 🫣🤣 Otherwise, we are very happy. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day. Some of the furnishings have already been updated, while others are still awaiting modernization – but everything is clean and functional. We stayed for a total of eight days and, as a family, occupied two double rooms. We particularly enjoyed the large rooftop terrace, which we could access from our rooms. If you have a room without direct access to the terrace, you can relax on the large rooftop terrace one floor below, provided the café is open. We had coffee and delicious cakes at the café a couple of times. In the evenings, we ate at the restaurant downstairs. Every dish we had there was absolutely delicious. The only slight drawback was that the Spätzle with cheese sauce could have been a bit creamier. But seriously, what are we even talking about?! These are really minor issues, not issues at all 🫶 You can rent bicycles at the hotel, so you don't always have to drive to the lake.

We stayed at the Alpenhotel Edelweiss on Lake Achensee for three days and felt very comfortable overall. We really liked the hotel. Our room was renovated, modern, and very clean. All the staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and attentive. The breakfast was also delicious and varied – we couldn't have asked for more. Unfortunately, there was one issue that somewhat marred our stay. There were heavy smokers in the neighboring room. They smoked almost constantly on the balcony. Since the balconies are only separated by a partition about 50 cm high, all the cigarette smoke drifted directly into our room. As a result, we couldn't leave the balcony door or window open, as our room immediately smelled of smoke. It was especially disappointing because we would have loved to enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Achensee from the balcony in the evening, which was unfortunately impossible due to the smoke. We politely pointed out to the neighbors that the smoke was drifting into our room, but unfortunately, without success. Aside from this point, we had a very pleasant stay and would gladly recommend the hotel due to the friendliness, cleanliness, and good breakfast. Perhaps the hotel could find a better solution for smokers and non-smokers on the balconies in the future.

Wir haben ein sauberes Doppelzimmer bekommen. Das Zimmer ist größer als die Standart Doppelzimmer. Frühstück ist okay. Die Lage ist super direkt neben der Seilbahn. Leider hat die noch bis Ende April geschlossen. Zu Fuß 20 Minuten bis zum See. Parkplätze sind kostenlos hier. Hunde sind sehr teuer mit 20 Euro die Nacht.

We spent one night at this hotel while passing through and were very satisfied. There is plenty of parking on site, the breakfast selection was adequate and tasty, the room was tidy and a good size, including a nice view of Lake Achensee. Furthermore, the price-performance ratio is very good.

Everything was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast was great, it was a 15-minute walk to Lake Achensee, and we had a balcony overlooking the lake. We stopped here for one night by motorcycle and were quite satisfied.

We were looking for affordable and comfortable accommodation for a weekend getaway and found the Alpen Hotel. It was excellent value for money, the room was clean, and the breakfast was superb. There are shops within walking distance, and if you want to eat out at a restaurant other than the hotel's, there are also some good restaurants nearby. Overall, it was a lovely weekend, and we would gladly return!
