Discover wildlife in winter!

Winter hiking programme Achensee

During winter, the Achensee region is transformed into a dreamlike landscape. One of the best ways to experience the sparkling winter wonderland is to join our ranger-guided walks, where the knowledgeable guides share information about the Nature Park Karwendel and how to respect the natural environment. You will also explore the habitats of local animals and search for their tracks, and the nature park rangers will bring a spotting scope for viewing wildlife in the distance. In addition, the varied educational tours include interesting facts about snow types, native plants, and how to identify flower and leaf buds. The guided winter walks occur from 20 December 2021 to 18 March 2022.

This hike has the motto “pastures: natural vs. cultivated landscapes”. From the parking lot, we walk across the bridge over the Pletzach into the Pletzachtal valley. Beautiful paths take us through a wonderful mountain forest which is home to a rich variety of wildlife (red deer, roe deer, ...). We follow the trail and soon we reach the panoramic and expansive alpine meadows of the Pletzachalm pasture. From this man-made landscape, we enjoy the view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. We realize that natural and cultivated landscapes can be very different, but do not have to be in conflict. Afterwards, we walk back to the starting point.
