Achensee Winter Hiking Programme

Depending on snow conditions, the educational and informative tours in the Nature Park Karwendel take you through the stunning landscape either on foot or with snowshoes. In addition to being active in the outdoors, visitors have the opportunity to learn interesting facts about the Karwendel, its flora and fauna, how to respect and protect the nature reserve, animal tracking, and snow conditions. The tours are led by qualified rangers and nature park guides from the Nature Park Karwendel and take place from 16 December 2024 to 21 March 2025.

From here, the path leads over open terrain to the riverbed. Enjoying the breathtaking view, we are taken back into times long past. How did the mountains form? Why are there valleys and cirques? These and many other questions will be answered during this impressive hike.

This hike has the motto “pastures: natural vs. cultivated landscapes”. From the parking lot, we walk across the bridge over the Pletzach into the Gerntal valley. Beautiful paths take us through a wonderful mountain forest which is home to a rich variety of wildlife (red deer, roe deer, ...). We follow the trail and soon we reach the panoramic and expansive alpine meadows of the Pletzachalm pasture. From this man-made landscape, we enjoy the view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. We realize that natural and cultivated landscapes can be very different, but do not have to be in conflict. Afterwards, we walk back to the starting point.

  • Meeting point: 10.00 at the pay parking lot next to the Langlaufstüberl (bus stop Pertisau Karwendeltäler)
  • Duration: ca. 4 hours (stop for refreshments possible at the Pletzach mountain hut)
  • Dates: every Thursday from 19 December 2024 to 20 March 2025

The trail finally leads past idyllic natural spots back to the starting point, leaving you with unforgettable impressions.
