Experience craftsmanship up close!

Museum festival at the Sixenhof museum

In late summer, the Sixenhof local history museum will celebrate its annual museum festival in the popular “Kirchtag” style. This traditional festival offers a unique opportunity to witness skilled craftspeople breathing new life into “Tirolean cultural heritage” as they demonstrate age-old techniques. For the first time, a belt embroiderer – who crafts ornate, hand-embroidered costume belts – will join the festivities. The festive day begins at 10.00 with a ceremonial Holy Mass, accompanied by music.

And of course, no traditional Tirolean festival would be complete without music and delicious food. Indulge in “Gruassi Nudln” (deep fried pastries) freshly prepared in the historic open-fire kitchen, as well as schnitzel, grilled meats with chips, coffee, and cakes. The children’s play area will also be back, ensuring plenty of fun and excitement for young visitors. The festival will go ahead in any weather, and while admission is free, the Sixenhof and the talented craftspeople gratefully welcome voluntary donations.

On Sunday, 14 September 2025, the Sixenhof local history museum celebrated its museum festival. All details for 2026 will follow as soon as possible.
