Airrofan & Adlerhorst
Adrenaline rush and spectacular views guaranteed. The eagle walk, Tirol’s award-winning long-distance hiking trail at Lake Achensee, has two more attractions – the sky glider Airrofan, and the 360° viewing platform on the Gschöllkopf.
Thrill-seekers and those with a thirst for adventure can get airborne on the skyglider and feel like an eagle. This innovative structure in the shape of an eagle, which is 600 metres long, covers 200 metres of elevation gain and has a speed of up to 80 km/hour, provides another highlight for daredevils on the Gschöllkopf and a very special flying experience high above Lake Achensee. Airrofan is just a few metres from the mountain station for the Rofan cable car and operates in summer and winter.
Adlerhorst viewing platform
A giant viewing platform sits enthroned on the Gschöllkopf at 2039 metres – the Adlerhorst. The platform, created by renowned Tirol wrought-iron craftsman Manfred Hörl, resembles a giant eagle’s nest. The building costs for this metal structure were EUR 200,000. Approx. 15 tonnes of metal were processed for the unique construction. The platform has a diameter of eight metres and the spectacular 360° panoramic view makes it a popular destination for hikers. The view of Lake Achensee, the Karwendel mountains, the Zillertal Alps and to the lower Inntal is spectacular. The viewing platform is only open to visitors in the summer.
