Snow biking & Moon biking

Discover a new perspective on winter. Snow biking offers a playful way to whizz down the slopes on "skis with handlebars," while electric Moonbikes let you glide effortlessly through the landscape. For those seeking an action-packed alternative to skiing, these experiences bring a thrilling burst of variety to your holiday.

6 ski areas in the region

The Christlum lifts in Achenkirch, the Rofan cable car in Maurach, the Karwendel cable car and the Planberg and Wiesen lifts in Pertisau, and the lifts in Steinberg and Wiesing offer a total of 53 kilometres of diverse slopes at altitudes of up to 1,900 metres. The region is a favourite for families, offering broad, well-groomed runs that ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for skiers of all ages and skill levels.
The winter version of kitesurfing is an exhilarating outdoor activity. Surfing over the snow with a kite is a must-do adventure for every sports enthusiast.

Snowkiting adventures

Looking for even more adventure? Then it’s time to try snowkiting. On the northern shore of Lake Achensee in Achenkirch, vast meadows offer the perfect conditions for "winter kitesurfing" thanks to the reliable, constant winds. Whether you're a pro or a curious beginner, the Achensee Snowkiting School is ready to get you started.

Achensee winter cruises

From 29 January to 8 March 2026, the Achenseeschifffahrt will operate its winter route, connecting Pertisau with the Scholastika pier in Achenkirch. Hop on board to experience the wintry magic of the lake from a relaxed perspective on the water. A boat trip is also the perfect way to complement other activities, such as a scenic winter hike.

While the slope at the Planberg and Wiesen lifts looks easy, these tubes often take on a life of their own, spinning uncontrollably as you zip down the run. You can reach our toboggan runs on foot or, on selected routes, comfortably via cable car or the “toboggan express”. Whether you're racing solo, challenging friends, or enjoying a family outing, there is a run here for everyone. Be sure to stop for a relaxing break at a rustic mountain hut before zipping back down into the valley.
