Snowkiting at Lake Achensee

It’s great to feel the wind on your face. And how the skis or the snowboard on your feet become lighter and lighter until you almost take off, letting you experience a new kind of freedom. Gliding over the snow holding on to a kite is a must-do adventure for every ski and sports fan.

Lake Achensee boasts an expansive open snowkiting area in Achenkirch with perfect wind conditions. Which is key, because in snowkiting you use the wind for propulsion. You can start snowkiting in 4 knots, which is about 10 kilometres per hour. And there is almost always wind at Lake Achensee. In addition, the area is specially prepared to provide the perfect surface for snowkiting.

You require a base level of fitness and solid intermediate to advanced skiing or snowboarding skills. Snowkiting is an exhilarating outdoor sporting activity suitable for all ages. Children can start at 7 years old. It is a sport that relies on technique, and you can always improve your skills. And if you’re craving an adrenaline rush, you can push yourself with speed trials and acrobatics such as jumps or freestyle.
