Family fun on the Wusel lake trail
A lakeside path named after the Achensee mascot? Yes, that's right! The Wusel lake trail is located on the eastern shore of the lake and is dedicated to the Achensee mascot, Wusel, the water spirit. The trail guides families and children through various stations with fun activities. As you walk the path, solve the intriguing puzzle. When you have punched out all the fields on your Wusel postcard at the end of the trail, drop it in the letterbox and you will receive a surprise in the post.
The Wusel lake trail features 16 stations with plenty of activities, including a sound station, a bouldering wall, and balancing steps. Along the way, tranquil coves invite you to dip your toes, swim or simply soak up the sun. Stretching 3.8km from Maurach to Achenkirch, this flat, car-free path is an idyllic setting for family walks, tranquil strolls or leisurely bike rides.
- Getting to the start: You can reach the start of the Wusel lake trail by taking the bus to the stop “Maurach am Achensee Prälatenhaus” or by parking directly at the Seeuferstraße car park. The Wusel lake trail begins about 50 metres past the water rescue station, just before the first station “giant lounger”.
- Information, postcards, and pencils: You can find all necessary information about the trail, as well as the Wusel postcards and pencils you need to solve the puzzle, at the overview boards located at the start of the path in Maurach (Sandstrand station), the panorama car park, and Camping Schwarzenau. Once you have walked the entire trail and punched out all the fields on your Wusel postcard, drop it in the letterbox and you will receive a surprise in the post!
- Seasonal closures: Please note that from November onwards, the trail will no longer be maintained, and the punching machines for the postcard puzzle will be removed. Also, from around mid-December, the section from Hechenberg to the Schwarzenau campsite will be closed.
