Achensee Xtreme – Individual Race

On 8 March 2026, the Rofan mountains will once again host one of Austria’s most legendary ski touring races. The “Achensee Xtreme” is entering its second edition - reviving an event once considered a firm fixture for ski mountaineers, known for its thrilling competition and unforgettable moments. With new momentum, this storied tradition continues. Join us as the ski mountaineering elite return to Lake Achensee, ready for speed, challenge, and spine-tingling action.

Programme and route details

  • Race number collection: Race numbers can be collected with the registration confirmation on Saturday, 7 March 2026, from 07:30 to 09:00 and on Sunday, 8 March 2026, from 07:30 to 09:30 at the valley station of the Rofan cable car. Participants with a combination ticket will start on both race days with the same race number (only one collection required). Each participant will receive two race numbers: one for the thigh and one for the rucksack.
  • Cable car ride: Ascent with the Rofan cable car from 08:00
  • The course briefing and instructions by the course manager, as well as the starting line-up and avalanche transceiver check, will take place from 09:45.
  • Start time & route: Start on Sunday, 8 March 2026, at 10:30 at the Rofan cable car mountain station / Erfurter Hütte (1,840 m).
  • Route Individual Race – Women & Men Masters, Senior and U20: (Time limit: All runners who do not pass the intermediate time line at the end of the first lap within 01:15 will be directed straight to the finish line and scored separately).
  • Individual Race route – Youth U14, U16 & U18: (No time limit).
  • Award ceremony: The award ceremony will take place approximately 30 minutes after the end of the Individual Race. The SKIMO Alpencup Ski Touring King and Queen will also be crowned there.
  • From 13:00, pasta party in the huts on the Rofan
  • Raffle prize draw
  • Descent: Last descent with the Rofan cable car until 17:00.

The number of participants is limited to 200.

  • Entry fee: EUR 80 until 02 March 2026 EUR 100 from 03 March 2026
  • Services included:
    • Attractive goodie bag filled with products and vouchers from partners such as Kneipp, Rox, Hagan, etc. (available when you collect your race number)
    • Finisher medal for all participants
    • Raffle with high-value vouchers and prizes
    • A parking ticket for the Rofan cable car park (provided upon race number collection)
    • Return trip on the Rofan cable car for each participant and one accompanying person (available when you collect your race number)
    • Pasta party at the huts on the Rofan for participants: 1 meal + 2 drinks (you will receive the meal vouchers when you collect your race number)
  • Combined ticket for Vertical & Individual Race:
    • EUR 120 until 02 March 2026
    • EUR 140 from 03 March 2026
  • The "Achensee Xtreme" Individual is part of the SKIMO Alpencup promoted by SkimoStats and is also counted as the Tirol Championship of the Tirol Ski Association..
  • Mandatory equipment according to SKIMO regulations
  • Common start/finish area, therefore no equipment transport necessary. The organiser will provide all participants with an area for storing rucksacks during the race.
  • Classes:
    • U14: born in 2012–2013 (13–14 years): written declaration or parents present at registration
    • U16: born in 2010–2011 (15–16 years)
    • U18: born in 2008–2009 (17–18 years)
    • U20: born in 2006–2007 (19–20 years)
    • Senior: born in 1981–2005 (21–45 years)
    • Masters: born in 1980 or earlier (46 years and older)

Route changes: The Rofan ski touring area can be explored using the winter/ski resort map available at www.rofanseilbahn.at. Please note that the organizer reserves the right to make last-minute route changes due to adverse weather conditions, such as avalanche risks.  

Liability and insurance: Each participant is expected to have competition insurance that includes rescue coverage. The organizer assumes no liability for injuries, deviations from the designated route, or other risks - participation is entirely at your own risk. Basic alpine knowledge is required for all participants. Participants under the age of 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian.  

Regulations: The event follows the guidelines and standards of Skimo Austria.
