Bergstation Rofan Seilbahn - Sagzahn - Vorderes Sonnwendjoch - Bergstation Rofan Seilbahn
From the top station of the Rofan cable car, follow the trail past the Mauritzalm (signposted). The trail initially descends slightly, then levels out until you reach the Grubastiege via two steep steps. It then descends past a memorial plaque to the Grubalacke and continues to the Krahnsattel. To the south, below the saddle, lies the distinctive Hexenfels rock in open terrain. The route leads across alpine meadows to a signposted fork in the path, continuing right to the Grubascharte, below which lies the Grubersee lake. From here, the trail continues to the Schafsteigsattel. There, the trail turns towards the Sagzahn, a jagged rock formation towering to the south. The ascent is through a rock chimney secured with a steel cable and across a steep mountain meadow to the summit of the Sagzahn (2,228 metres) . From the summit, an easy crossing leads to the summit cross of the Vordere Sonnwendjoch (2,224 metres). The descent then leads to the Schermsteinalm (not serviced) and on towards Krahnsattel before returning to the top station of the Rofan cable car.
