Gliding silently through the snow and enjoying the physical exercise backdropped by spectacular mountains – at Lake Achensee in Tirol, the birthplace of professional Nordic skiing instruction, skiers’ dreams come true. The region boasts a network of over 200 kilometres of groomed and track-set trails. Skating or classic style, beginners or experts, there are trails to suit everyone.

Did you know?
The Achensee region has several cross-country ski schools offering courses for every skill level. It’s also where the official education standards for teaching Nordic skiing were established, which still provide the foundation for qualifying ski instructors today.
