Lake Achensee has long been an absolute wonderland for cross-country skiers. Since 2006 it has also been the venue for an international competition – 7th and 8th of January 2017 is devoted to the Raiffeisen-Steinöl-Trophy, or rather the Achensee Nordic Race.
While the most ambitious athletes set out on a 30 kilometer-long and very challenging course, or battle their way to the front of the pack on the shorter 15km course, the up-and-coming stars can test their mettle in the Mini Achensee Run. On Saturday, the masters of skating technique gather for a spectacular mass start, while on Sunday classic skiers have their turn. Spectators are always well rewarded – not least because of the fringe programme including free equipment tests and sampler lessons in skating and classic style.
For all those who take part there are great prizes to be won, plus the entry fee covers an amazing services package for every participant: finisher’s medal, refreshment at the catering stations, meal voucher, free parking, an attractive surprise gift and much more.
