Cross-country skiing at Lake Achensee

The Achensee region is one of the most popular and most significant cross-country skiing centres in Tirol. More than 200 kilometres of ski runs around Tirol’s largest lake provide unlimited cross-country skiing fun.

The topography of the terrain surrounding Lake Achensee – from gently undulating landscapes along the lakeshore to challenging routes in the Karwendel valleys – and the excellent infrastructure offering separate tracks for classic cross-country skiers and skaters ensures skiing fun at the highest level.

A well-marked network of groomed cross-country skiing trails, handy trail maps, an interactive map with detailed route information, GPS data as well as a daily updated weather forecast and snow report complete the services. Modern snow-making systems cover about 40 kilometres of tracks, ensuring great conditions throughout the entire winter season.

Each of the five holiday villages is known far beyond the borders of Tirol for their special cross-country skiing offer.

Extensive additional range on offer

Pertisau has a designated practice trail where first time cross-country skiers can practice the technique in a safe terrain. Seven cross country schools in the region offer support. The local authorities have also made every effort to provide barrier-free ski runs over many years. In the meantime the communities of Pertisau, Maurach and Achenkirch provide specially designed adaptive cross-country routes for wheelchair users. Lake Achensee also offers a dog-friendly trail, where dogs can roam freely and accompany their owners unimpeded.
