An excursion to the Wusel lake trail
The trail alongside the lakeshore between Maurach and Achenkirch is a highlight for the whole family. A fun-filled day is guaranteed on the Wusel lake trail which features several experience stations, and walking all the way around will be rewarded with a little surprise.
Built close to the water, the lakeside trail covers four kilometres between Maurach and Achenkirch, proceeding along the eastern shore of Tirol’s largest lake. For families, connoisseurs and active people, this car-free route is the perfect place to relax.
The lakeside trail is ideal for children since there is hardly any elevation gain. A sound station prompts our little guests to perform an open-air concert with the humming stone, air xylophone and other wooden instruments, whilst their parents get comfy on the giant wellness loungers. But only rest for a little while, since there is still the new climbing station and the sand pit to discover. Along the way, swimming bays and play areas invite to take a break.
There is also a puzzle to solve on the Wusel lake trail, named after Achensee’s little mascot ‘Wusel the water spirit’. Those who have stamped all the fields in their ‘Wusel card’ will get a surprise.
Detailed information about the Wusel lake trail can be found on the notice board near by the Camping Schwarzenau, at the panorama car park and at the start of the lakeside trail in Maurach (station at the sandy beach). At these tree points you will also find the office issuing Wusel cards and the mailbox where you can get your surprise.
Please note that the trail remains closed during the winter season.
