Paragliding at Lake Achensee

The selective thermally active flight areas directly at Lake Achensee will make paragliding an unforgettable experience. The adventure is available to everybody in a tandem flight.

Starting point: 1,831 m, next to the Mauritzalm mountain hut – 10 minutes walk from the mountain station of the Rofan cable car

Landing point: Maurach village centre, next to the roundabout

Demanding and thermally active flight area with the possibility of cross-country flights. Paraglider manufacturers value the location directly at the lake, which makes the area ideal for material testing and safety trainings. Beware of valley winds when landing.

Landing point: Pertisau, next to the Hotel Bergland and the Hotel Wiesenhof

The flight area Karwendel in Pertisau is used as training area for the flight school and soaring and is ideal for safety trainings. Beware of valley winds when landing.

To access the starting points please use the Rofan cable car in Maurach, and the Karwendel cable car in Pertisau.

  • Tandem flights

    Trust the professionals and enjoy a breathtaking flight over Lake Achensee. Costs for tandem flights start at EUR 98.00.

  • 2-yearly inspection

    Paragliders have to be checked every two years by an authorized specialist. The inspection includes a complete material check, line measuring and strength test, visual inspection and porosity check (duration approx. 2 hours). Rescue equipment has to be repacked once per year. This service has to be checked by a specialist.

  • Paragliding flight and safety training

    The paragliding school Achensee is certified by the DHV (German Hanggliding Association) as a recognized Performance Centre and has been awarded the title Skyperformance Centre in 2013. This award guarantees a professional training plan where quality and safety are paramount. The flight school Achensee is the training centre with the most trainings per year and has therefore decades of experience in these special paragliding trainings.

  • Hike & Fly

    Many paragliders dream of climbing a mountain and then gliding to the valley. Flight instructor Mike Küng offers “Hike & Fly” together with a certified mountain guide. After a beginner’s tour on the first day (3 hours ascent), a more demanding tour is planned for the second day – depending on the ability of the participants. Hike & Fly is an adventure for both pilots with their own paraglider as well as sporty holidaymakers who would like to do a tandem flight.
    Requirements: Endurance, sure-footedness & head for heights, flight licence with cross-country permission.
    Price: 2 days EUR 399.00 per person (excl. accommodation)
