Description

ITINERARY

Saturday, 04 March

  • 09.00 Meet and greet at the Hotel Bergland
  • Round of introductions
  • Distribution of equipment and dividing participants into groups
  • Venturing out into the open terrain
  • Methods how to assess the risk of avalanche, behaviour during the tour and hands-on practice with emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe)
  • Theory session: equipment, snow and avalanche awareness, interpretation of the avalanche bulletin, basics of modern risk management and application of assessment methods
  • Group dinner at the hotel
  • Evening lecture: materials, alpine dangers and how to deal with avalanches

Sunday, 05 March

  • 08.00 Group breakfast
  • Planning the tour 
  • Reading and interpreting the current avalanche bulletin
  • Snowshoeing tour: practice your skills, especially behaviour in open terrain
  • Convivial gathering to round off the course

Participants will receive the detailed schedule and packing list by email before the camp. The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions.

1 overnight stay at the 3*** Hotel Bergland in Pertisau incl. half board and small wellness offer, 2 days course with state-certified mountain and ski guides, theory on equipment, snow types, avalanche awareness, information and tips on tour planning, basics of modern risk management, guided group tour, rental equipment: snowshoes, telescopic poles, Ortovox avalanche transceiver, shovel & probe

The camp takes place with a minimum number of 6 participants.
Requirements

have the physical condition for 200 hm/hour, be able to walk safely on red hiking trails in summer
