Local history museum Sixenhof in Achenkirch

Rebuilt in 1810 after an arson attack, the typical Tirolean single farmhouse was first mentioned in records dating back to 1361. The farmhouse in Achenkich, home to the local history museum Sixenhof, has preserved the memory of these bygone days. Visitors can explore 21 rooms and learn how our ancestors lived and worked. Exhibits include a farm, a cobbler’s shop, a weaving mill, and a blacksmith's workshop. Numerous exhibits also testify to the significance of hunting, fishing, and the timber industry in this area. The history museum is also known for the "Tirolean Mountain Christmas", a nativity scene complete with life-size figures and live animals, telling the story of the birth of Christ. The venue also features a traditionally decorated Christmas tree and one of the oldest nativity scenes in the Achental.
